- Can I sleep in my bed with the Lalizou?
4. Why is it comparatively difficult to put the baby nest cover over the cushion tube?
The dimensions of the Lalizou were chosen in such a way that neither the design nor the functionality were compromised. Among other things, the aim was to create a stable and wrinkle-free cushion that meets all the requirements for safe use for your child while still looking stylish and firm in shape. The firm tube cushion prevents your children from rolling out of the cushion on the one hand and adults from rolling into the cushion on the other. All these points ensure that the 6 cushion components are precisely matched to each other with very little tolerance. If you take our tips for assembling the Lalizou into account, you won't encounter any difficulties.
6. At what age and in what intensity should my baby practice tummy time?
In principle, it is possible to start practicing the tummy time some days after birth. A general statement about how long you can let your baby practice in the tummy time cannot be made. If your baby starts whining, it has practiced enough. Keep the exercises short at the beginning and repeat them several times a day.
2. In which order do I assemble and disassemble the Lalizou?
You can assemble the individual parts of the Lalizou in just a few steps. To do this, you first reach into the mattress insert and pull the interior outwards. Now insert the plastic rail into the provided channel. After that, bring the mattress insert back into the starting position. Then put the pillowcase onto the 1st side. Starting with the large circumference, you can now insert the cushion tube into the cushion cover. Then close the separable zipper. Afterwards put the mattress cover over the mattress to insert it into the mattress slot.
To disassemble, simply proceed in reversed order.
5. How can my baby use the tummy time on the Lalizou?
The cushion tube has the correct loading capacity to serve as a good aid for the tummy time. For the littler ones, the small pillow tube is ideal for the tummy time. With increasing age the bigger one can also be used. For optimal use, place your children onto the appropriate cushion tube with their chest. Experienced babies can also be placed on the lying surface of the first side during the tummy time. In this case, the cushion tube protects them from falling over to the side. To make the motor training playful, use a toy.
1. How does my child lie safely in the Lalizou?
Only let your babies sleep on their back. Since the back-sleep campaign Safe to Sleep, the death toll has drastically decreased. The sleeping environment should be cool, it is said 16°C to 18°C (60°F to 64°F). Do not use pillows, blankets, toys or other foreign objects in the Lalizou. Sleeping bags are recommended. Make sure that your baby’s clothes are not too warm. Overheating is a risk factor for sudden infant death syndrome. Your baby should sleep in your room the first year of its life. For this the Lalizou fits perfectly into the parent’s bed as described above. Regularly training the motor skills with trained tummy time while the baby is awake counts as well. Also ensure that the Lalizou is placed on a stable, level and firm surface with its entire surface.
The sleeping baby must be observed passively at all times. This doesn't mean you have to be awake. As an adult, you can sleep next to the child lying in the nest as well. However, this is only permissible if you are not under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
You can also let your baby sleep on the 2nd side in the seat belt system or let your older children sleep in the Lalizou with both sides free.
3. How do I use the seat belt system of the baby lounge correctly?
To buckle up your baby easily and safely, you first thread the two lower hooks of the seat belt system into the corresponding webbing loops of the Lalizou baby lounge and fold the buckling system towards the lower end. Then open the buckles on the seat belt system and thread the adjustment elements with hooks (make sure that the open side of the hook points towards the lower end!) into the matching loops and fold them outwards. Now place your baby on the baby lounge, fold the seat belt system onto your baby and close the buckles with the side parts.
7. What is the purpose of increased exercise in the tummy time?
With the tummy time you stretch and strengthen the head, shoulder and neck muscles of your baby, which it needs to learn important motor skills. To roll, to push itself up, to sit, to crawl or to pull itself up to stand, to give a few examples.
Another important point is the development of the head shape.
Infants who spend most of their time lying on their backs have an increased risk of flat head syndrome and the development of asymmetries up to KISS syndrome.
8. Can I use my Lalizou in a cot?
Due to its application areas the Lalizou is not intended to be used in cots. From the moment the toddler can walk on its own, the Lalizou can be used in a toddler bed or a large cot. The bed height must allow the child to safely climb up and down by itself.
Safety is our top priority. There have been incidents where babies have suffocated after being trapped between a soft product and a cot, cradle, wall or other surface. You should also not place your child on soft blankets or soft toys. In that case there is also a danger of suffocation. For these reasons we advise you against using a Lalizou in a cot, bassinet or other closed area.
9. How do I avoid suffocation accidents?
Especially in the first few months, when it can't turn on its own stomach, your baby is absolutely safe on its back in the Lalizou. Do not place pillows, blankets, toys or any other items into the Lalizou together with your baby. Never leave your child unattended or out of sight.
10. Up to what age should I use the seat belt system on the second side?
If your child is able to climb up and down the Lalizou safely, you can go without the use of the seat belt system. It is not possible to give a general age, because each child has different developmental steps.
11. Can I sleep in my bed with the Lalizou?
With regard to sudden infant death syndrome, it is important to minimize existing risk factors. Risk factors include sleeping in an own nursery, sleeping in the prone position, sleeping with a blanket and overheating. Sleeping in a double bed is a controversial issue. However, only in the western regions. There have been numerous studies with different opinions on this topic in recent years. Decisive points against sleeping in a parent's bed are the danger of rolling onto the child during sleep and the danger that direct body contact with the baby could heat it up too much due to the body heat of the adults. Both dangers are eliminated by the correct use of the Lalizou in a double bed. In the end, it's up to you. With our children in the Lalizou we as developers of Lalizou slept and still sleep together in our double bed. When used correctly in an adult bed, Lalizou is very safe to sleep in. Just follow these important instructions:
The Lalizou should always be placed in the middle (not near the sides!) and on the head end of the parent bed while sleeping. The Lalizou with its protective sides facilitates the correct positioning of the baby's back on the lying surface and thus prevents the baby from rolling out of the bed, hitting its head against the headboard, getting caught between the bed and the wall or twisting under the duvets. In turn, the cushion tube prevents the parents from rolling onto the Lalizou unintentionally. The cushion tube is also ideal as a pillow for you as parents to be very close to your children at night. So you can comfortably pat them and calm them down.

4. Does the use of the Lalizou pose a risk for allergy sufferers?
The materials used in the Lalizou are very compatible and free of substances with a high allergological risk.
6. In which country is the baby nest produced?
Nowadays, the origin or the working conditions under which a product is manufactured are of great importance for the buying decision. Our pillow components are produced partly in Germany and partly in Turkey and China under tested and controlled conditions and assembled in Oberhausen in the Ruhr area and then shipped to you. Only qualified employees are involved in the respective work steps. This is the only way to guarantee the high quality and safety Lalizou stands for.
2. Does the Lalizou have a heat-regulating effect?
Lalizou's materials are constituted not to increase the baby's body temperature. However, if you do not handle the Lalizou properly and place it on a non-breathable surface, such as a waterproof sheet or mattress, there is an increased risk of your child overheating. This should not be underestimated, as the overheating of a baby is a risk factor for sudden infant death syndrome.
5. Does the Lalizou baby nest cover contain 100% cotton?
The cushion cover that comes into contact with your child's skin is made of 100% cotton. The use of cotton has many advantages, including the high tear resistance. It is skin-friendly and does not scratch. It has a low allergy potential and is very heat-resistant, hardwearing and stretchable. This makes the cotton very durable and low-maintenance.
1. Does Lalizou use pollutant-free substances?
Lalizou sets the highest quality standard for the materials used. For this reason the Lalizou is certified according to the Oeko Tex Standard 100 product class 1. The OEKO-TEX® tests for harmful substances are always based on the intended use of the textiles and materials. For children up to 3 years of age, skin contact with a product is particularly intensive and the skin is still particularly sensitive. For this reason, it is necessary to comply with stricter human ecological requirements. Further information on this topic can be found on the Oeko Tex website.
3. Can my baby sleep on its stomach for the first few months?
To reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome, always place your baby on its back to sleep. If your baby still ends up with its face completely on the nest by lying on its side or stomach, the high air permeability of the Lalizou initially allows your baby to continue breathing without any problems. The hardness of the mattress is also chosen so that your baby cannot sink too far into the mattress. Nevertheless, you should of course make sure that your child can breathe freely again as quickly as possible. The air permeability is just another additional "double bottom" for "what-if" moments.
7. Is the Lalizou air permeable?
To reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome, always place your baby on its back to sleep. If your baby still ends up with its face completely on the nest by lying on its side or stomach, the high air permeability of the Lalizou initallows your baby to continue breathing without any problems. The hardness of the mattress is also chosen so that your baby cannot sink too far into the mattress. Nevertheless, you should of course make sure that your child can breathe freely again as quickly as possible. The air permeability is just another additional "double bottom" for "what-if" moments.
8. Can I use the Lalizou in a damaged condition?
If the Lalizou is damaged, do not use it. If damaged, there is no guarantee that the described cushion functions and safety devices will continue to function properly. Therefore it is important to regularly check the Lalizou for damage. You have the possibility to reorder any part of the Lalizou in our webshop to restore its functionality.
9. Does the Lalizou prevent the natural turning of my child?
The natural turning of a child is not prevented on the baby nest. On the baby lounge, however, you have the possibility to strap your child into the seat belt system. This will prevent the child from turning around. If the child turns around on the baby nest, the high air permeability of the Lalizou initially makes it possible to continue breathing without problems. Nevertheless, you should of course make sure that your child can breathe freely again as quickly as possible by laying it on its back.
10. What should the surface on which the Lalizou lies be like?
The surface should be flat, firm, stable and non-slip. Your child can only lie safely in the Lalizou if the Lalizou itself lies on a safe surface. Only put the Lalizou on items, which your child cannot fall off of.
